Tap and Modern Dance Class for Primary school children in Alton

This Infant & Junior Tap and Modern dance class in Alton for 6yr+ is fun and energetic and are suitable for 6yr, 7yr & 8yr old dancers extending their modern technique as well as newcomers and late starters. Tap dance is a highly technical and rhythmical dance form which focuses on control and dexterity of the feet whilst maintaining performance skills and natural style. Dancers use shoes with metal plates on the toe and heel to strike the floor in various ways creating rhythms.

There are many roots to tap dance, from African to Irish to Latin to Folk dance forms. There are also many different styles of tap dance and students are encouraged to find their natural style and rhythm to express themselves.

The Wednesday class is at the Amery Hill Dance Studio and the Saturday class is at Alton Sports centre

We have over 50 dance classes in Alton each week training dancers from preschoolers to adults, from beginners to vocational level.

At Vgdance we aim to create a supportive learning environment with an emphasis on proper technique and training. 

Some of our students take classes just for fun, however, we also take great pride in preparing our more dedicated students for a career in dance and extra/extension classes are available for those students who show potential both physically and in attitude.

Many of our past students have successfully attended professional performing arts schools and degree courses and are now working within the performance industry.

Our Dance students have the option to take exams up to, and including, the vocational level and to perform in professional theatres and charity events..
